Critical Care’s Adaptation of “What Matters to You?” Conversations

Since its inception in Norway in 2014, “What Matters to You?” Day has grown into an international phenomenon. Two years after its launch, Scotland was the only other country in the world to join Norway in the ground-breaking initiative. Since 2016, 41 countries have embraced the day. On the 6th June 2019, Wirral University Teaching Hospital’s (WUTH) Critical Care department joined in with the conversation.

End of Life Care - Competence Based Workforce Planning

Knowsley Health and Wellbeing brings together NHS Knowsley with Knowsley Borough Council Directorate of Wellbeing Services (adult social care; leisure and cultural services).  The organisation has pursued competence based workforce planning for the End of Life and Long Term Conditions Care Pathways.  It has developed models identifying workforce competences and structures required to deliver End of Life and Long Term Conditions care.

Student Mentor Practice Guide for the Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree Programme

Following a survey of Trainee Assistant Practitioners and their mentors across the North West, the Work-Based Education Facilitator (WBEF) Network has launched a guide to support learner development in the practice setting.
The Student and Mentor Practice Guide has been developed and shared with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The guide reflects the requirements and processes in place across the various universities and is relevant to TAPs within health, social care, independent, and voluntary organisations.

North of England Health Visiting Celebrate Share and Learn event

NHS England, in partnership with Health Education England, hosted the North of England Health Visiting Celebrate, Share and Learn event at the Hilton Leeds City on 15 October 2014.

The event was chaired by Teresa Fenech, Deputy Director: Quality Assurance, NHS England who gave a warm welcome to almost 200 health visiting professionals from across the North, including; health visitors, midwives, school nurses, local authority staff, managers and other early years staff.

Raising Awareness of Knowledge Management and Knowledge Sharing

This report has been produced with the agreement of the Library and Knowledge Service Manager, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT), as part of the “Pathways to Leadership”, an Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) endorsed course. Given the time scale and resources available it has not been possible to obtain a benchmark of knowledge management and sharing in the organisation.

Piloting of the Care Certificate in the North West

This paper sets out how Health Education North West (HENW) has engaged with stakeholders to assess the potential value and relevance of the Care Certificate in a variety of learning environments. Recommendations and risk management issues have been identified for consideration by the national project team to inform the next stage development of and implementation requirements for the wider roll out of the Care Certificate from April 2015.
