North West Adult Learners Week Awards for Health and Social Care 2014

On the evening of 5 June, in glorious surrounds, Manchester Museum hosted the North West’s regional award ceremony to mark Adult Learners’ Week.Hundreds of people came together to hear the inspirational stories of adults who have been transformed by their learning experiences and the impact this learning has had on others.Health Education North West is celebrating and promoting the national learning campaign Adult Learners Week in 2014 through a series of health and social care awards because we know learning is good for people and organisations and We Care About People Who Care.

Inspirational Story: Healthcare Apprenticeships in GP practices

Primary Care. As many people’s first point of contact with the NHS, around 90% of patient interaction is with primary care services. In Yorkshire and the Humber there are circa 800 GP practices. As well as doctor and nurse provision these practices are increasing the numbers of Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) they are employing. 2014 Adult IAPT Workforce Census Report

The 2014 workforce census achieved a 95% response rate and provides a snapshot of the size and shape of the IAPT workforce at April 2014 in England.The 2014 Census was undertaken because there is currently no national data collection of IAPT practitioners by the Health and Social Care Information Centre.The IAPT team defined the workforce categories to facilitate accurate data collection and to reduce any ambiguities which had been known to impact upon the accuracy of returns in 2012.

Go with the FLO - Using FLO as an interactive information tool

The Healthy Minds Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust has developed a pilot project to improve attendance at group therapy sessions by using Florence telehealth application (FLO) to text patients with reminders and prompts to help them manage their recovery. FLO is a text messaging service which uses a protocol that can be tailored to the specific needs and requirements of patients.

IPE Evaluation Report in Yorkshire and the Humber
