HEE working across the North West hosted the North West ESR BIG SIG (Special Interest Group) attended by over 90 representatives from NHS Trusts, CCG’s and Shared Service Providers in the North West.   The NW ESR BIG SIG combines national and North West ESR updates with special interest groups for Payroll, OLM (Online Learning Management), Self-Service, HR, Reporting, Finance & Payroll.  Please see below the agendas/presentations given at the event.

On 30^th November 2016 Health Education England working across the North West held a half day Preceptorship event.

Key objectives of the event were:

Health Education England (working across the North West) presents a health and wellbeing workshop for educators supporting healthcare learners in the North West’s learning environments.  

The purpose of the event is to build on the recently developed public health benchmarking and action planning tool to ensure placement capacity, capability and quality is supported to ensure public health learning outcomes can be met by all healthcare learners on placements in the North West.

Health Education England (working across the North West) has collaborative relationships with the End of Life Care Strategic Clinical Networks within the North West to ensure the effective planning and use of resources to support the training and development of the local workforce in key end of life care issues.

The Five Year Forward View calls for a radical upgrade in prevention and public health.  There is a challenge though in understanding how and what healthcare learners are currently taught with regards to public health knowledge and skills.  Therefore Health Education England (working across the North West) has developed a toolkit to allow programme leads for healthcare education programmes to consider, identify and map how their programmes evidence public health education knowledge and skills acquisition.

The 'Train-The-Simulated Patient' (2TSP) programme features a blended learning package featuring an e-learning course and face-to-face workshop. The e-learning course integrates digital media, scenarios, learning activities and reflective exercises, which are completed prior to workshop attendance. The workshop focuses on the practical elements of SP development; role portrayal and feedback. It includes performing arts techniques; thought tracking, observation, motivation and emotional memory.
